Czechs Raise Over 22 Million CZK for Power Generators for Ukraine

The Czech initiative “Gift for Putin” (Darek pro Putina) has raised about 22 milion CZK for generators for Kyiv, which is suffering from Russia’s terrorist strikes on the energy sector. “Our fundraiser has very strong momentum,” Martin Ondracek, founder and head of the initiative, told Ukrinform. According to him, the SOS KYJEV fundraising campaign was launched on January 21 at around 19:00. In the first two hours, nearly 1 million Czech crowns were transferred to the account, and within 24 hours more than 10 million Czech crowns was collected.

A driver fleeing police drove at high speed through central Prague last week on Friday, running red lights, driving against traffic, and entering sidewalks where pedestrians had to jump out of the way. The incident began on Vodičkova Street, where police attempted to stop the driver over a suspected traffic offense. The driver refused to stop and fled. Police patrols joined the chase as the car moved through narrow streets in the city center. The driver ran multiple red lights and drove in the opposite direction of traffic. At several points, he drove onto sidewalks.
